Remembering 9/11

Do you remember where you were at? What you were doing? How you felt? It doesn't seem like 6 years ago that America was attacked in such a vicious, cruel act of hatred, but today marks that anniversary. I hung my flag outside this morning and said a prayer for the families of the victims and for our country. I recalled my memories of that day....
I had just sent David off to kindergarten for the day, turned on the TV to watch the TODAY Show and the phone rang. It was my sister calling to tell me that a plane had crashed into the WTC. We chatted for a few minutes as we both speculated on what had happened when the WTC had been hit again by a jet! We both knew that this was terrorism. We sat in silence on the phone as we both watched Matt Lauer and Katie Couric try to gather their wits and report on this devastating news. I remember debating on whether or not I should go get David out of school...praying again for the safety of my family and the safety of my country. Remember the patriotism that followed? Do you remember the leaders of our country gathering on the capitol steps singing "God Bless America?" All those memories and feelings have faded over the years as we've gotten back into our normal routines.
I guess I wrote this as reminder to us all to pray for our nation. We are so blessed to live in a country that believes in freedom and opportunity and we should take the time to thank God for it and to ask Him to guide our leaders as they make decisions affecting our nation as well as the rest of the world.

2Chronicles 7:14
...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
