Today we're celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's been that long already. We were full of hopes and dreams back in 1994...it's funny how those hopes and dreams change as the years go by. We've achieved many of those dreams; buying a home, having children, etc. Some of them we've let go of too.
My greatest hope and dream was to marry someone that truly loves me.....that dream came true!!! I couldn't ask for a more wonderful man. I'll spare you readers the "mush", but I just wanted to brag and let you know that I love my husband more now than I ever thought possible 15 years ago!

He is Good!
The past week has been very difficult. Kara passed away on Valentine's Day leaving this life behind and stepping into the presence of her Heavenly Valentine. I've slowly just been letting things sink in for the past several days, absorbing what has happened and allowing extended family and friends to minister us.
I'm very thankful for these very special people. Several have sent cards, brought food, called to check in with us, or even sent a quick email just to say they're praying, etc. It's meant the world to know that people are praying for Corey and the rest of us as we grieve the loss of Kara.
I could write a book on everthing that I've learned and experienced this past week, but some things are just better left unwritten. My Father has walked close beside me through all of this whispering His sweetness into my ears. I figure since He whispered those things, it should just be left between me and Him.
I'll miss Kara greatly. I'll miss picking up the phone and calling her....just because. I'll miss her laugh, the way she would enter a room and say, "HI!" all drawn out and kind of whiney sounding, and most of all (and I heard this many times this week) I'll miss her beautiful smile. She could light up a room with that smile!
I'm thrilled to know that she is completely healed and standing in the presence of our Lord and Savior! Wow! Our prayers for healing were answered the way the Lord saw fit...His perfect will was done! What more could we ask for? He is Good, He is Good, He is Good!!!

My Sister, My Friend....
Thought I'd post some pics of my sweet sister-in-law, Kara. When Brian and I started dating Corey wasn't quite 8 years old yet. I told him from the time he was little that when he got married, he'd better marry someone that I liked!!! I had no idea what a treasure he would find! She quickly became my sister and my friend. I hate that she's suffering, but I also know that the God I serve is a good God. He's been faithful and is holding us in His loving arms as we struggle to let Kara go. I got to tell her once more today how much I love her. Although she's not able to speak back, she opened her eyes and knew I was there. That was a blessing in itself!

Recipe for liquid laundry detergent
Laundry Soap: (I cut my recipe in half when I made this)
1/2 C. Borox (found by the laundry detergent usually on the top shelf)
1/2 C. Washing Soda (looks like the baking soda box but bigger found same place as Borox. I could only find this at Dillons.)
1/3 bar of Fels-Naptha Soap (I found mine at Harter House)
Directions:
Grate 1/3 bar of Fels-Naptha Soap with carrott grater.
Put grated soap in 2-3 cups of water and boil until soap dissolves.
Pour into a container, add Borox and Washing Soda then add enough water to make 2 gallons.
Shake vigorously to mix well.
Let mixture sit 24 hours before laundering.
Shake everytime before you use it!
This makes 2 gallons of detergent and costs roughly .25 cents per gallon. (I read that somewhere but plan to figure it out for sure later.)
The initial cost of everything is about $4-$5 for the Borox and Washing Soda. The Fels-Naptha soap was $1.99 per bar. So, roughly $12.00 to get started.
The Fels-Naptha soap will make 6 gallons of detergent per bar.
I have no idea how many gallons the Borox and Washing Soda make, but trust me...it's plenty!!!
Let me know if any of you try this out!

Laundry soap news...
Today I used my new laundry soap...it works great! It got my mechanic's socks squeaky clean and smellin' fresh too. The best part is that it only cost around .25 cents per gallon! That's about 35 loads for only a quarter! It was extremely easy to make too. I'll post the recipe when I have a chance tomorrow.
